"Gallery Series" Riesling

From the inception of our "Gallery Series" that started with the 1988 Cabernet Sauvignon, the concept has created wide interest. The original plan had been to use the art label for only the Cabernet Sauvignon, however, the rules were not inflexible, and this year we have extended the concept to our Riesling.

In previous years we had invited a local artist to produce an impression 'landscape of Polish Hill River, for use on our label. The definition of a "local artist" has also been somewhat flexible, with the most precise delineation of boundaries to date being north of the River Light, and south of Goyder's Line, but with the proviso that a little give or take was permissible.

Our latest artwork has been done by Carina Turner, who has her studio and gallery in Quorn. Carina works in batiks, a style that gives an unusual richness of colour.

Carina has done two matching scenes. The one illustrated above has been used for the label of the 1993 "Gallery Series" Riesling, and is what Carina considers a typical South Australian scene with its spring colouring of salvation jane.
