  • Concerning the weekly homilies published on the front of Weekly Notices, we had suspected that they were not written locally, but taken from an overseas publication. This one would support that notion:

'When those inquisitive fellows are met they remind one of the old dog who was moving the family across the railway track. One inquisitive pup stopped to stick his nose on the third rail. When he found out all there was to know about electricity, it never did him much good.' (Australia never had electric third-rails).
